Shukhee Gram, the rural digital healthcare initiative jointly driven by Mohsin-Fatema Siddiqui Somaj Kollyan Shongstha (MFSS) and Shukhee — the digital healthcare platform of Grameen HealthTech Limited — has been declared Bangladesh Country Winner in the “SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being” category at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026. The honor recognizes the program’s contribution toward United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, which calls for ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for people of all ages.
The recognition caps roughly a year of grassroots work in Bangladesh, where Shukhee Gram has been steadily closing the gap between Bangladesh’s well-served urban health systems and its underserved rural communities.
Bringing the Clinic to the Doorstep
Shukhee Gram was built on a simple premise: quality primary healthcare should not depend on how far a family lives from a hospital. The initiative pairs Shukhee’s digital healthcare network with MFSS’s on-the-ground community outreach to deliver services directly to people’s homes.
At the center of the model are live video consultations that connect rural patients with qualified MBBS doctors regardless of geographic distance, alongside a portable 6-in-1 digital health device used to run free screenings — cardiovascular checks (ECG and heart rate), vitals (blood pressure and body temperature), and metabolic screening for blood glucose and diabetes risk.
Around these core services sits a broader support structure: every enrolled household receives a Shukhee Family Health Card, care is coordinated through the Shukhee App and an EMR system that enables digital prescriptions and follow-ups, and community-based Link Workers carry the program from village to village and, increasingly, into towns. Shukhee Seba Kendra (SSK) touchpoints and HealthStore services extend the network further, while tie-ups with partner pharmacies give enrolled families discounted access to medicine.
From Sitakunda Outward
The program’s first phase, run between December 2025 and April 2026, enrolled 61 underprivileged families across Sitakunda’s South Muradpur, Rahmat Nagar, and Chararkul wards. Every household received a free on-spot health assessment, and all participating families opted into a subsequent 90-day follow-up program — a full response rate that MFSS points to as an early sign the model was meeting a real need. The screenings also surfaced the scale of chronic disease in the area, with hypertension, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke all showing up across the enrolled households, in many cases overlapping within the same family.
A second phase followed in May 2026 with an additional free medical camp, organized in memory of the mother of MFSS Chief Advisor Dr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui. A third phase launched in June 2026, extending the initiative’s reach beyond the original villages toward nearby towns and cities under the banner “village to city.”
A Shared Achievement
MFSS has described the award as validation of a model built on partnership — between a technology-driven healthcare platform and a community welfare organization willing to do the last-mile work of outreach, enrollment, and follow-up. The organization has extended thanks to its volunteers and field workers, the doctors and healthcare professionals who conducted consultations, and the partners and community members who supported the effort.
For MFSS and Shukhee, the award is being framed less as a finish line than a milestone. With three phases completed and a fourth wave of expansion already underway, the stated goal remains building toward a future where quality healthcare is within reach of every community in Bangladesh, urban or rural.
